General
Introduction
The R3 control system
has evolved from over two decades of practical experience from some of the
most prestigious developments in the UK and overseas. It represents the
most flexible and versatile solution to major fire alarm system
requirements available today.
Each system is
purpose-built from standard 19 inch rack mounted modules to meet exact
system requirements. Modules are available to provide control and
monitoring of any combination of analogue and conventional detection, gas
detection, gas and water based extinguishing systems and associated
automatic and manual plant control requirements.
The
Benefits of Large Centrally Controlled Systems
The rack mounted
format fits easily into the control rooms of large industrial or
commercial complexes. These environments require full information of the
total fire system to be available centrally in order that action can be
taken immediately by informed control room personnel.

System
Design
Because each system is
purpose-built, the design is dictated by the precise system requirements,
not by the limitations of manufacturers’ standard equipment. The 19 inch
rack mounted modules can be either assembled in swing-frame cabinets or in
chassis form for mounting into clients’ own racking system.
Flexibility
The modular design
makes it easy to modify and extend the system, accommodating design
changes introduced during the contract period or later. Further
flexibility is provided by our outstations. Details available on request.
Integration
Because the 19 inch
rack format is universally accepted, it is possible to accommodate
peripheral control systems such as public address, security and closed
circuit television within a common control enclosure. Topographical mimic
panels may be added to the front of the rack or positioned
elsewhere.
Simplicity
System information can
be presented via any combination of our computer-based alarm management
system, repeater panels and mimic displays which are purpose-built to suit
specific requirements.
Adaptability
Minor system
alterations are all site programmable, resulting in minimal disruption and
"down-time" when changes are required.
Cost-effectiveness
The modular format
enables us to provide our client with exactly the facilities required,
thereby keeping costs to a minimum.
Ease of
Maintenance
Even though no two
systems are likely to be the same, the basic modular design facilitates
ease of maintenance. Site level maintenance is reduced to location and
replacement of defective modules.
Networking
On very large sites,
these panels may be combined in a network. On a network, each panel is
capable of acting as a separate self-contained unit whilst releasing
information about each event, onto the network loop. Each panel is also
programmed to listen to the other panels and respond selectively to
network data.
